WWE star John Cena announced he's not going to fight in "Wrestlemania 32," but he's also hinting on Twitter that he could still be involved in it in some capacity.
In a Wrestlemania press conference, Cena said that he's not going to be able to participate in the fight happening April 3 in Texas as he's still healing. The wrestler underwent surgery back in January for a shoulder injury and the recovery is likely to take more than six months.
"He had a complete tear of a small portion of the rear rotator cuff tendon, the infraspinatus-toward the top-back of his shoulder-which I repaired," said Dr. Jeffrey Dugas, per Wrestling Inc. "Also, there was a large piece of loose tissue in his shoulder that needed to be removed."
The 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion initially sent cryptic messages on his Twitter about his status in the fight prior to the official announcement. Coincidentally, his girlfriend, Nikki Bella, is also not going to be wrestling in April as she also underwent surgery for a neck injury, Sports World News reports.
Despite the wrestling star's impending absence at the ring Cena hints he's still going to be part of the franchise in some way, per Cage Side Seats. He also tweeted that he's not about to give up despite his current predicament.
Wrestlemania's Vince McMahon believes that Cena will remain a part of WWE perhaps until he's 70-years-old. "John is Babe Ruth, he's everything to us," McMahon said, per the Orlando Sentinel. "I don't know how long he's going to pursue this...I don't know if it's going to be 70 like me, but he'll try. It's just in him and he loves it so much, even when he was a little kid."
