When it was announced that the "Star Wars" film franchise is to have another movie coming out, fans were thoroughly excited. After all, it has been a long time since that last "Star Wars" episode came out and the new "Star Wars" film, which is the 7th episode of the film franchise was not a disappointment
The "Star Wars" series has gained a lot of new fans and the old fans of "Star Wars" had only high praises for "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens." With the fame that the new "Star Wars" film gained, numerous conspiracy theories form fans have also came into light, and one of this is one that involver Rey and Leia.
According to fans, the last scene wherein Rey, Finn and Chewbacca went back to the Resistance Base after successfully destroying the Starkiller base, Leia, who was waiting in the landing strip immediately, went to hug Rey, whom she has never been introduced to. Fans think that there might be something up between the two characters. What the fans thought would be a tearful reunion between Chewbacca and Leia after the death of Han Solo did not happen.
What the fans are saying about that specific "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" scene is that it connects to the conspiracy theory that Rey trained with Luke Skywalker before there was a Jedi Temple Massacre and that her memories were erased before she was abandoned in Jakku. For a long time now, fans are certain that this is the reason why Leia and Rey had a very emotional reunion. However, "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams has spoken out about this fan theory.
"The idea being that both of them being strong with the Force and never having met, would know about each other - that Leia would have been told about her beyond what we saw onscreen and Rey of course would have learned about Leia. And that reunion would be a meeting and a reunion all in one, and a sort of commiseration of their mutual loss," Abrams explained.
J.J. Abrams also admitted that he made a mistake about not letting Leia and Chewbacca have a tearful reunion. "That was probably one of the mistakes I made... Had Chewbacca not been where he was, you probably wouldn't have thought of it. But because he was right there, passed by Leia, it felt almost like a slight, which was definitely not the intention."
