The boy at the center of the case involving Rebecca Sedwick, a 12-year-one girl who committed suicide last month and the girl who bullied herm has spoken out, according to WTSP news.
Guadalupe Shaw, 14, was arrested after she wrote incriminating remarks on her Facebook page. According to Sheriff Grady Judd, from Polk County, Fla., Shaw began bullying Rebecca Sedwick after they both dated the same boy, John Borgen.
Borgen spoke with WTSP and said he never though one of his former girlfriends to commit suicide and the other would be arrested.
"It shocked me, it made me mad because she should have just told somebody," said Borgen, the former boyfriend of both Florida girls. Rebecca's mother, Tricia Norman, said she knew about the bullying and even made Rebecca change schools and alerted the school district, but nothing was done to prevent it and the bullying continued online. Authorities searched Sedwick's computer and found many cruel messages from girls who encouraged her to go kill herself.
"They need to take life seriously," said Borgen. "Why do you need to be bullying somebody?"
After almost a year of bullying, Rebecca Sedwick committed suicide on Sept. 9 by jumping off an abandoned building.
Sherriff Judd arrested Shaw and another 12-year-old girl, Katelyn Roman, after finding incriminating evidence. "She made a comment in reference to, 'Yeah I bullied Rebecca, and yeah she's dead, but I don't give a blank,'" Judd said. Shaw's parents deny their daughter wrote the remark and said her Facebook account was hacked.
Judd warned parents to be aware of what their children are doing and has not ruled out charging the young suspects' parents.
