Paul McCartney mourns the death of a second father and a great man in Hollywood. Legendary Beatles producer, George Martin, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 90.
Daily Mail UK reports on the passing of the legendary Beatles producer. George Martin reportedly died peacefully at his home in Coleshill. He left his second wife Judy with their four children.
George Martin helped The Beatles attain their legendary status in the music industry. He was the head of the Parlophone at the time the Fab Four submitted their demo tape in 1962. He took a chance with the group while multiple recording labels have already closed their doors. Martin worked closely with the Beatles, creating music with them that he was informally known as the "fifth Beatle".
In a heartfelt statement posted on his blog, Paul McCartney honored the man behind The Beatles' success. Hollywood Reporter took some snippets of what McCartney wrote.
"The world has lost a truly great man who left an indelible mark on my soul and the history of British music," he was quoted saying. McCartney also described Martin as a true gentleman and was like a second father to him. He added that Martin was the most generous, intelligent and musical person he's ever known from the day he gave The Beatles their first recording contract until the last time he saw the producer.
McCartney was not the only one who mourned the loss of a great man. Here are some of the Twitter posts of Hollywood stars who felt the great loss of the true gentleman as collected by Hollywood Reporter:
One of the best memories of Paul McCartney with George Martin was when he convinced the musician to render the song “Yesterday” with the quartet. Indeed, he was correct. The song had so many versions since then. Here’s a little bit of nostalgia of the past with the video below.
