A few years after his brother and "The Matrix" directing partner Larry Wachowski made the decision to become a transgender, Andy Wachowski followed suit. Andy Wachowski is now known as Lilly while Larry Wachowski took on the name Lana.
The Guardian reports that Andy Wachowski is making the announcement about becoming a transgender sooner than planned. Andy Wachowski has a wife, Alicia Blasingame, to whom he has been married since 1991.
Andy Wachowski relates that the news of his sexuality almost became public a few times in the past year. However, Andy Wachowski considered that instance to be against his will. The news never came out as Andy Wachowski anticipated.
Daily Mail reports that although Andy Wachowski spoke about transitioning, no confirmation has been about any gender reassignment procedure. "I knew at some point I would have to come out publicly," Wachowski said. "I just wanted -- needed some time to get my head right, to feel comfortable. But apparently I don't get to decide this."
Andy Wachowski made the change long after Larry Wachowski made a public gender switch and took on the identity of Lana Wachowski in 2012. Similar to Andy Wachowski, Larry Wachowski refused to confirm going into any gender reassignment surgery.
Larry Wachowski reportedly separated from his then wife while working on "The Matrix" trilogy. Larry Wachowski got divorced in 2009. Interestingly, while living as a transgendered woman, Larry Wachowski entered into a new marriage with another woman.
Designer Marc Jacobs took interest and made Larry Wachowski the face of the luxury label's Spring/Summer 2016 collection. In a separate article, The Daily Mail reports that Marc Jacobs explained that the photos taken of Larry Wachowski for the campaign are part of a personal diary of his inspirations into finding new ways of seeing and thinking.
