What To Do When Your Baby Is Experiencing Acid Reflux

According to Dr. William Sears, acid reflux is one of the most common infant feeding problems. Almost a quarter of all the babies in the world experience it - often manifested in different degrees.

Here are some ways to do whenever you baby is experiencing acid reflux:

1. Keep your baby upright and quiet after feeding.
Gravity helps keep your baby's stomach contents down, so an upright position is just fitting for them. "Sit with your baby on your lap with his head nestled against your chest. Keep him in this position for at least thirty minutes after a feeding," Dr. Sears said on Parenting.

2. Feed your baby frequently with small servings
Do not overfeed your baby. Feeding your baby twice as often but with smaller servings will help aid faster digestion as tiny amount of milk enters their stomach.

3. Feed tummy-friendly milk
Dr. Sears suggests that if you are a mom who breast feeds; continue exclusive breastfeeding for as long as you could. No baby is ever found to be allergic with breast milk. It also has many nutrients than the formula milk. It's all natural composition makes it easier for your baby to digest since it has enzyme that aids faster digestion in your little one's tiny tummy. But if you are formula milk feeding, consult your pediatrician for the right hypoallergenic formula milk in the market.

4. Right sleeping position for your baby
Reflux in babies usually occurs at night, thus waking the baby up in pain. Do you always find your baby waking up with colic, wet burps and sour breath? Then you should elevate the head of the crib by 30 degrees, this is to avoid interruption of their sleep at night. You can also encourage your baby to sleep on his left side - wherein the stomach inlet is higher than the outlet - it will help the food down.
