Pet owners are oftentimes bothered by ticks and fleas that feed on the blood of their furry animals. These parasites can be tough to deal with but there are always proper remedies for them.
PetMD advised owners to go for natural remedies like juices and water. It highlighted that orange or lemon can be rubbed on the pet's fur to protect them from ticks and fleas.
However, it warned that dogs and cats can be sensitive to citrus oil extracts. Owners should be careful in applying this type of oil as it can harm pet animals.
Another simple way to get rid of these parasites is to bathe your pets or soak them in water. PetMD explained that ticks and fleas usually fall drown and fall from the hair when there is water.
"A good dip in a tub of water will wash away most, if not all, of the fleas on your pet," the report added. This can be combined with using a mild shampoo and brushing your dog's hair while it is still wet.
To keep your pets healthy and clean, it was also advised to always maintain a healthy home. Parasites can be prevented and eliminated if furniture and carpets are regularly vacuumed and the entire house is disinfected.
On the other hand, Analil's Corner noted that pets should be given immune system booster like Dandelion and Echinacea purpurea to make sure they have enough vitamins in their bodies. These will help in avoiding more parasites from feeding on them.
The same report also mentioned that apple cider vinegar has been found as an effective solution to control ticks, fleas and other bacteria. This can be used for cats and dogs.
To use this tick fighter, one should mix about a teaspoon of the vinegar with the food of pets then increase the dosage to one tablespoon if there is a need. It can also be rubbed or sprayed on the skin or fur of the animals to remove the ticks and heal the wounds they cause.
