Man's Bleeding Episodes from His Eyes Cannot Be Diagnosed by Doctors

A man from Tennessee has been experiencing a rare condition that makes his bleed from his eyes, nose and mouth for the past seven years, according to NY Daily News.

The condition which is called haemolacria or more commonly known as 'bloody tears' is not a new type of illness but is a very rare kind. Michael Spann, now 30 first acquired the condition at the age of 22. Seven years later, the frequency of his condition became less but doctors and other specialists have not yet found any cure, according to Tennesseean.

Spann's first time to experience haemolacria took place while he was coming down the stairs of his house in Antioch where he suddenly 'cried' blood of tears and felt a sudden flash of pain, according to Tennessean. "I felt like I got hit by a sledgehammer," he said. "I never felt anything like it."

"I have a condition that I get these really bad headaches, and along with the headaches I bleed from my eyes. I also bleed out of my mouth, my nose. There are other people who have what I have in Tennessee alone, which is strange, both none of them have ever bled out of their ears so I don't know if I have an advanced version of whatever those people have, or something else entirely", he added.

Michael also shared his experiences with his condition and his inability to last long in his chosen career as a fashion designer. He said, "Any job I get I lose because my eyes start bleeding and they can't keep me on. Obviously, I can't be a waiter and work in a public thing because you are bleeding." Other patients suffering from haemolacria are trying to find cure for the illness but have not yet been successful at it.
