A man's happiness have been found to be dependent on the amount of time he spends with his friends as well as the kinds of things they do together, a recent study suggests.
Robin Dunbar of Oxford University found that men must meet up with at least four of his friends, twice a week and do stuff together because his wellbeing and health depended on it. Dunbar acknowledged that while 'talking with friends' daily is considered valuable, it is meeting up with them personally that can bring forth more benefits.
Dunbar suggested that these regular meet-ups with friends include engaging in activities like playing soccer or rugby, sharing jokes in a club or just hanging out while drinking beer, according to Daily News EN. His report also states that guys who maintain social groups are healthier, are able to recover from health-related issues and have the tendency to be more generous. However, he also found that at least two out of five guys claim they are able to satisfy their friends only within a week while three were unable to do so.
This is due to the fact that men on average, spend less than half of their social time with an inner circle of four to five close friends and Dunbar's research suggests this is directly linked to the banter that such groups inspire and has benefits, according to Daily Mail. "Whey guys get together physically and more frequently with their mates, their friendships become stronger, better and a richer life results", said Stephen O' Kelly from Guinness. The writer of the report, Danny Wallace said, "Science is telling us to have more fun together and do more stuff. This is great news, for we must obey science."
