Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016: E3 Coming to an End?

Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016 is about to start from June 14 to June 16 in Los Angeles, but a number of renowned video game companies has withdrawn their support for the annual gala trade show. About three months away from E3, some fears that a few more exhibitors might pull out their booths in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo.

According to Wired, the first major player that removes their support for E3 is Electronic Arts. EA renounce its "primo space" at E3 to attend their own event, named EA Play. The said occasion is open for all will happen only athwart the street where E3 will be held.

Not so long after EA announced its retreat, Activision proclaims that they won't be at E3. "We're proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won't have an Activision booth on the show floor," Activision said in a statement.

Later, the online game company, Wargaming, announced that they will not be participating at E3, which was then followed by Disney's walk out. However, it has been said that the said game companies have their particular reasons for the backing up of E3.

Maybe, the mentioned developers and publishers are eyeing to grace "consumer-oriented shows" than showing how their games are being sold and played. Meanwhile, Venture Beat reported that the organizers of E3, the Entertainment Software Association, are now trying their best to make their game fest more appealing and keep their remaining exhibitors.

In fact, E3 is now stronger than before and has become a $99.3-billion game industry, per Newzoo. Hence, ESA spokesman Rich Taylor reveals that they are not even alarmed of the multiple "back outs."

In fact, in his recent interview, he said that E3 remains to be important today as part of fan events, live streaming and social media. Rich Taylor boasts that E3 is actually the core of the said mediums, which strengthens their importance all over the world.

"E3 is an evolving show. It's not the same year after year. Individual companies will make decisions for their purposes each year and each iteration E3 is still a unique place. I can't wait to see what's under the roof this year," Rich Taylor said.
