'Jane the Virgin' News Update: CW Renews TV Series for Season 3; Lead Star Gina Rodriguez Overjoyed

Fans of the romantic comedy-drama "The Virgin" should rejoice because your favorite TV series is in for another season.

According to TV Series Finale, The CW renews "Jane the Virgin" for season 3. The comedy-drama series' rating is experiencing a decline in their rating by 20 percent, but it remains to be the critics' favorite. In fact, the last 16 episodes only have an average rating of 0.38 in the 18-49 demographics with 989,000 viewers. This makes "Jane the Virgin" one of the lowest show in CW.

The renewal of "Jane the Virgin" is great news to the cast of the TV show, especially to lead star Gina Rodriguez. On Friday, Rodriguez shared a Dubsmash video on her Twitter according to USA Today. She captioned it with, "To @TheCW to @CBSTVStudios and the #virginators for supporting us through all our telenovela madness! We (heart) you!"

In the short clip, Rodriguez is joined by her co-star Jaime Camil, who plays as her dad Rogelio De La Vega. Camil is holding up a piece of paper with the words "#Season 3."

"Jane the Virgin" tells the story of a driven 23-year-old woman named Jane, who is played by Rodriguez. Jane gets pregnant through artificial insemination by mistake. She later finds out that the donor is her teenage crush Rafael, who also owns the hotel where she works.

Rafael is already married and initially, Jane decides to turn over the child's custody to the couple. However, as things unfold, the two soon to be parents develop feelings for each other.

"Jane the Virgin" is only one of the 11 series that The CW renews. The other series that the network renews include "Legends of Tomorrow," "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," "The Flash," "The Vampire Diaries," "Supernatural," "The 100" and "Reign" to name a few, per Deadline.
