There are numerous things that kids keep from their parents because they fear they would be reprimanded or punished. These secrets range from petty to very serious ones.

AOL noted that children would, most of the time, hide things from their mom and dad because they also do not want to hurt or disappoint them. The application Whisper allowed them to voice out what they have long hidden from their parents.

1. Emotional effect on children when parents fight

One post on the new application revealed the feelings of a child who had to endure listening to the fights of his or her parents. "My parents don't know how much their fights affect me and my brother," the Whisper post read.


2. Doing things not because they want to but because they are obliged

to According to AOL, some parents would "confuse" the things you want and need with their own. A post on Whisper said that going to college is an act to make parents proud and not let them down.

3. Vices like smoking and drinking

Amazing Beautiful World said children do not tell their parents that they drink or smoke because they know they would be prevented from continuing their vices. It explained that some children would smoke at school or at friends' homes just to hide this from their moms and dads.

4. Sexual adventures

Teenagers would not usually divulge their first-time sexual encounter with their parents because they are sometimes ashamed of the act. Amazing Beautiful World said there was even one girl who did not tell her parents that she was pregnant until she was already on her seventh month. Her mother never really understood how and when it happened.

5. Tattoos

Many youngsters are encouraged to have tattoos because of their peers and the examples they see on television. But AOL said that getting a tattoo is something they would not consult with their parents. The same report said that they would mostly have it on the parts of their bodies which are hidden.
