Charlie Hunnam, who was initially cast for the role of Christian Grey for the movie adaptation of erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' made his first public appearance after walking out of the movie.
In an interview with E! News, the British actor said that he is "doing good" and said that he is busy with "family stuff." The website previously reported his father passed away this spring.
"I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family," he said.
Charlie further said that he intends to go home and spend some more time with his family. He is currently shooting for 'Sons of Anarchy.'
"So I am going to go and do that and concentrate on the final seasons of Sons."
Earlier, author E. L James revealed that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. This created furor among the readers and fans of the erotic novel. They demanded a recast of the lead roles.
Following the hype surrounding the movie, Charlie decided to step back from playing the role. A source told E! Online that they were not surprised when he pulled out of the film. In fact they were surprised when he accepted the role.
"What he was taking on with this role was not what Charlie wants in his future career. The attention and the pressure was intense. More than anything he hates attention and being in Fifty Shades of Grey would force him to do lots of media. That's really not his thing. Charlie doesn't want to be massively famous. Plus, he hates conforming and being told what to do. This role would force him to have to be something he is not," the source to the gossip website.
The film officials said they would announce the final recasting of the movie in a few weeks.
