Prince George, the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, had a special day today. The young prince got baptized today and his godparents will include old family friends, a royal cousin, college pals and loyal staff, but not Prince Harry or Pippa Middleton which many speculated would be on the list, Kensington Palace announced Wednesday.
The 3-month-old royal baby was christened on Wednesday as Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge in a private ceremony for close family and friends in the Chapel Royal of St. James's Palace.
According to multiple reports, the baptism was a low-key, intimate family affair, and not the traditional grandiose affair the Royals have previously made it out to be.
"They are reinforcing the idea here that the royal family is changing," says Alan Bright, editor of Royal Life, a magazine. "They understand people, more than pomp and ceremony, want a family they can identify with. And William and Kate just are more normal."
The event was so low-key infact, that only 5 guests were in attendance. This included Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry, Also there will be Duchess Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and siblings Pippa and James Middleton.
His parents selected two hymns (Breathe on Me, Breath of God and Be Thou My Vision), two lessons (St. Luke ch. 18, versus 15-17 and St. John ch. 15, versus 1-5) and two anthems (Blessed Jesu! Here We Stand and The Lord Bless You and Keep You) for the 45-minute ceremony, according to US Magazine.
