Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, Ellen Pompeo Support Hillary Clinton In New Ad

Thursday nights are often riddled with Shonda Rhimes' drama shows, such as "Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal," and "How To Get Away With Murder." Although her leading ladies - Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington and Viola Davis - are often portraying independent and powerful women on screen, the four "Shondaland" ladies teamed up to show support for Hillary Clinton.

The new ad campaign is an effort to represent Hillary Clinton's campaign for women empowerment. According to TV Week, the video was directed by another Shondaland alum Tony Goldwyn, otherwise known as President Fitz on Rhimes' show, "Scandal."

USA Today even notes that Kerry Washington, Ellen Pompeo, Viola Davis and Shonda Rhimes compared the Republican presidential candidate to the protagonists of "Scandal," "Grey's Anatomy," and "How To Get Away With Murder."

In the new video, the Shondaland actresses describe their characters - Olivia Pope, Annalise Keating and Meredith Grey - as "brilliant, complex, overqualified, get-it done women who obsessively fights for justice."

"Who cares; who gives a voice to the voiceless; who gets knocked down and always gets back up," the actresses continued. " Shonda Rhimes also gets her turn with the spotlight, who explained that the characters she created for "Scandal," "Grey's Anatomy" and "How To Get Away With Murder" are what she believed anyone could be.

To deliver their message, Kerry Washington noted that their "characters are on television," while each actress take turns delivering the point: "The real world has Hillary Clinton" to be that "bona fide" woman that could be the next commander-in-chief.

Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington, Ellen Pompeo and Viola Davis then conclude the video by saying "I'm with Hillary Clinton," before encouraging everyone else to join their support for the former secretary of state. Watch the new ad below!
