An 8-year-old shelter Chihuahua from Pittsburg, California named Fleetwood Mac has been seeking a home for quite some time. But the dog's rare condition called ectrodactyly, a congenital bone abnormality is a deterrent to potential adopters. However, after few months of searching, he was finally taken into custody to a family who totally understand the dog's rare condition.
Umbrella of Hope animal welfare organization had organized numerous events in a bid to find a perfect home for Fleetwood Mac, but the group didn't receive any adoption request. Hence, they decided to share Fleetwood Mac's story to the Facebook group page for people who were affected by ectrodactyly-- hoping to connect with individuals who would totally understand the dog's rare condition. Likewise, to find the dog a loving family.
"He has one foot that's a little different," Elsie Lodde of Umbrella of Hope explained to Today. "He hops around on three legs, but he feels no pain. Unfortunately, dogs with disabilities are not often wanted."
After posting on social media, Veronica Campos contacted Umbrella of Hope. Apparently, she has a 7-month-old daughter, Grace, who was born with a cleft palate and ectrodactyly in her hands and feet.

The family already has a canine companion named Charlie, yet, the Campos were still looking to expand their pack and think Fleetwood Mac is the perfect one to join their growing family. "We knew we wanted another ... I liked that this dog was a little different, just like her," Veronica said to Today.
Umbrella of Hope and the Campos family are now hoping that Fleetwood Mac can provide emotional support to Grace as she grows and faces the challenges of her rare condition. "People can be cruel sometimes, and I don't ever want her to feel bad for who she is," Veronica added. "You don't just throw away something because it's different. We want her to learn from that."
