The parents of the twin toddlers who drowned when they fell in a pond said they are devastated by the tragic death of their boys. The parents also revealed that the twins were "miracle" babies.
Two-year-olds Rhys and Shaun Scott were found floating in a garden fish pond in Dalgety Bay, Fife, on Sunday morning, March 13. At around 8:20 AM, police officers and Scottish Ambulance Service personnel arrived at the family home and took the boys to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. However, later that day, the twin toddlers died, Police Scotland said to the Mirror.
In a statement released by Mervyn Scott and Sarah Aitken, the twins' parents, said they would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the people who supported them during their unfortunate time. Moreover, for the medical team and the police who did everything they can to revive their "miracle babies."
"Both boys were long awaited little soldiers who were full of love, happiness, fun and cheek," the family added. "Individually and together they have touched the lives of everyone they met."
The statement further said that the whole family are still shocked and devastated by the "freak incident." The family is also asking for a privacy as they wish to grieve quietly for the death of their twin toddlers.
According to the Telegraph, the family just recently moved into the rented home and the person who previously occupied the house was Keith Henderson, who ran a koi supply business. Hence, he installed a fish tank at the side of the property.
Since the tragic loss of the family, messages of condolences from the local residents and friends have been sent to the family of the toddler twins. Moreover, flowers and messages of support have been left on the doorstep at the family home.
