It seems that the iPhone SE will lack Apple's innovative 3D Touch feature. Before the 3D Touch technology becomes popular, it needs to be incorporated in a vast majority of handsets.
According to Forbes, the 3D Touch technology can challenge the paradigm of user interfaces. But before developers can use it for primary features, it needs to mature and be incorporated in most devices. However, Apple not using 3D Touch in the upcoming iPhone SE is a courageous choice since the handset will be on the market for many years of use.
It may seem strange for Apple to launch iPhone SE, a new premium-tier phone, without the 3D Touch key feature. Many tech experts agree that the 3D Touch should have been in the iPhone SE if Apple wants that the upcoming device to stop being seen as a weaker and cheaper iPhone.
A report published by Motley Fool analyzes Apple's choice. According to the report, the exclusion of this feature may be caused by the need of additional pricey components that would reduce margins by too much on a low-cost device.
Another reason could be the fact that Apple wants to keep the 3D Touch feature for the higher-priced iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in order to give customers a reason to "buy up." Apple spent time at its last fall event talking about the virtues of the 3D Touch new feature in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
The launch of the iPhone SE is widely expected at the announced Apple press event on March 21. According to Apple Insider, the event will be held at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino at Apple's corporate headquarters. The press event will start on Monday, March 21, at 10 a.m. PT or 1 p.m. ET. The tech giant is also expected to hold another event this fall in San Francisco.
