Michael Schumacher is currently undergoing an extensive rehabilitation program at the comforts of his home in Geneva, Switzerland after his tragic accident in the French Alps in December 2013. He is reportedly under the care of 15 medical experts at a highly-secured and state-of-the-art custom built suite 24/7 but reports about his recovery and health condition remain elusive.
Fans of F1 superstar Michael Schumacher have been eager to know the latest updates regarding the health condition of their idol. Unfortunately, reports about Schumacher's health condition were rarely leaked to the public due to the ongoing media blackout requested by his family.
The media blackout, however, is not the only reason why reports about Michael Schumacher have been scarce. As a matter of fact, his manager Sabine Kehm recently revealed that it has something to do with Schumacher's "secret dream" to disappear from the spotlight.
"In general the media have never reported on Michael and Corinna's private live," Kehm said during a media event at Lake Starnberg, as per The Huffington Post. "When he was in Switzerland, for example, it was clear he was a private individual."
"Once in a long discussion Michael said to me: 'You don't need to call me for the next year, I'm disappearing,'" she added. "I think it was his secret dream to be able to do that someday. That's why now I still want to protect his wishes in that I don't let anything get out."
In an interview with Munich-based newspaper, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Kehm also explained she chose not to divulge any information about Michael Schumacher's health condition to avoid speculations and misinterpretations from the media.
"At the moment, I see no alternative," Kehm said, as Zee News quoted. "Every sentence is a catalyst for new inquiries, every word is a beacon for further information. It never dies down."
Meanwhile, Sabine Kehm also recalled how she learned about Michael Schumacher's skiing accident. According to Schumacher's manager, she only knew about the accident after a reporter called her to ask for any confirmation about the news, Daily Mail reported.
"I couldn't confirm it - I was on holiday like a lot of people at the time," she explained. "After five minutes a journalist was having a go at me asking why I wouldn't confirm the accident. I took a lot of calls that afternoon, tried to get information myself and to get hold of Michael [Schumacher]."
As for now, Sabine Kehm said that Michael Schumacher's recovery remains a "continuous process." But she is still hopeful that the German F1 legend would be back in the racing realm someday.
