While the Oklahoma Thunder lost to the San Antonio Spurs 93-85, Kevin Durant gets a win by giving the new Nike KD 8 Elite a debut during the game.
Durant had a solid performance in the game, giving the Thunder 28 points to lead early in the game, reports Complex. But although the OKC didn't get the win that round, fans got a chance to see a new colorway given the test run.
Just a few days ago, the “Creamsicle” colorway for the KD 8 was unveiled. It was swathed in a red-orange ensemble with a blue Nike “Swoosh” detail. Apparently, fans were expecting that Durant will again wear this shoe and wear a new one when Thunder goes to the Playoffs but everyone was surprised: he wore a different, cool looking KD 8 Elite.
During the recent game, Durant's KD 8 Elite was colored red from the front to the middle of the shoe, black from middle to the back up to the sock, with some shiny details on the sole. It looked like it had a black Swoosh detail.
Durant told media that he was comfortable wearing his signature high-cut shoe in games, and gave the KD 8 Elite a thumbs up. Most likely this is because it has been developed with his feedback in mind, said KD 8 Elite designer Leo Chang.
"Transitioning from a low to high is a decision we made with confidence based on our ongoing feedback from Durant to always push the limit on innovative design," Chang told Complex.
Not only does the KD 8 Elite look good, it also is promising in terms performance and durability, thanks to a full-length Zoom Air unit, Flywire support and Kevlar reinforcement.
"The KD 8 Elite is conceptually designed to blur the lines between the shoe, sock and tight,” explained Chang, “seamlessly transitioning between each so you can't differentiate where one begins and the other ends."
The Nike KD 8 Elite will be available starting April 14 from nike.com.
