In a business presentation in New York last Tuesday, Take-Two Interactive's president Karl Slatoff explained the company's reasons of putting a time gap between popular titles, per Game Spot. Slatoff admitted that this represents a challenge for the company, especially in keeping the investors positive.
However, he explained that this policy is preventing the game titles from experiencing "fatigue." Slatoff added that in the long run, putting a time gap between popular titles has proved to bring advantages and he remained firm in the company's decision.
According to Slatoff, it might be tempting to take advantage of a game franchise as far as you can and continually release new game titles. However, by doing so, other companies in the gaming industry will experience "fatigue" in other franchises. Slatoff added that Take-Two deliberately manages new game title releases in order to create franchise value.
