2017 Acura NSX News & Specs: Acura Aims to Enter High-End Luxury Auto Market With NSX Car

With the 2017 Acura NSX, Acura is aiming to enter the high-end luxury auto market and is making sports car fans happy. In Acura's lineup, the 2017 Acura NSX will cost around $100,000 more than its predecessor. This seems to be an effort of the car maker to reinvent itself from the top down.

The NSX line was launched by Honda around 25 years ago. In the United States, the Acura NSX car was discontinued in 2005. However, in 2007, Honda announced that it will still develop the NSX sports car in the future. The Acura NSX is back now, nearly a decade later.

According to TechTimes, Acura has been trying to change the perception of its brand to be counted as being on par with luxury brands like Lexus and Jaguar. In order to achieve this, Acura is using the 2017 Acura NSX priced at $156,000 as a standard bearer. Most of its prospective buyers may never be able to afford a late model NSX, but they can at least settle for the likes of an Integra.

The 2017 Acura NSX is a hybrid sports car with three engines. A single gas engine is driving the back wheels and two electric engines are powering the front end. According to Top Gear, the NSX is "immensely complex" in scale and stands out with how "immersive" it feels. The complex integration between the V6 and three motors as well as the braking and steering deliver "a fascinatingly engaging experience".

The 2017 Acura NSX provides 476 foot-pounds of torque and a total horsepower of 537. The sports car features a nine-speed transmission and can operate in four modes. It can operate solely on its electric engines and travel in quiet mode for up to 2 miles. The other three modes are called Sport, Sport+ and Track.

An AutoGuide review of the 2017 Acura NSX concludes that the sports car "makes you feel like a much better driver than you actually are." Watch the full video of the 2017 Acura NSX below.
