"Wonder Woman" actress Gal Gadot feels "really good" about playing the role because her character could be a female role model for young girls and boys. In an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Gadot shared to the host a conversation she had with her daughter about princes and princesses while she was telling a story.
"She said, 'the princes are always so brave and courageous and strong ... [the princesses] always fall asleep, and then the prince is the one to wake them up, and they do nothing," the Israeli-born actress said, as reported by LA Times. "And that made me feel so good about playing Wonder Woman."
Gadot adds that little boys had popular superheroes like Batman, Spider-Man and Superman and girls have the princesses. DeGeneres agreed and but pointed out that now there is "Supergirl" on TV and Gadot's "Wonder Woman" so these female superheroes could be role models that young girls can look up to.
In the same interview, Gadot revealed that she initially did not know that she was auditioning for "Wonder Woman." Director Zack Snyder called the actress and asked to do lines with Ben Affleck and asked her if she knew about the female superhero.
"I went dead for like five seconds, came back to life and tried to pull off my coolest voice saying, 'Wonder Woman...yeah, I've heard of her,'" she said, E Online reports.
The actress hoped to hear right away if she had the role but waited 2 weeks for the news. According to Hollywood Reporter, Gadot was on a plane when she received the role and she was so happy that she attracted the attention of some passengers. She told DeGeneres that she felt "like the luckiest girl in the world."
Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman in the upcoming movie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" on March 25 with Ben Affleck (Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman). The iconic DC female superhero will also have her own standalone movie on June 2017.
