Reports about Nina Dobrev transferring to "The Originals" from "The Vampire Diaries" despite the latter's renewal for another season have been making rounds lately. Now, new reports claimed that the ex-girlfriend of Ian Somerhalder is very much excited to take on her role on "The Originals."
Nina Dobrev joining 'The Originals' to boost ratings
It has been known how "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" have suffered when both popular TV series were moved to CW's Friday lineup. "The Originals" reportedly has less than a million viewers while "The Vampire Diaries" has maintained a million audience.
Aside from the change on its schedule, the departure of Nina Dobrev from "The Vampire Diaries" is also considered as one of the reasons why the ratings had a big time drop. Celeb Dirty Laundry shared that the addition of Nina Dobrev on "The Originals" could help the show recover its viewership and boost its ratings.
"If you know your TVD history, she was the first doppelganger and her magical blood made The Originals into vamps, so she's a natural choice," the entertainment news outfit reported. "If you recall, Elijah killed her after he turned vampy and then her blood was used to hold back Klaus' werewolf side (which is on the loose - now he's a hybrid)."
Fans are hopeful that Nina Dobrev will not be entertaining other offers aside from "The Originals" as they cannot wait to see the actress take her vampire role again. Additionally, seeing Nina Dobrev outdo "The Vampire Diaries" with Ian Somerhalder could be something fans look forward to.
Nina Dobrev appalled at 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8
It's no secret that Nina Dobrev was one of the major reasons why "The Vampire Diaries" succeeded during its first few seasons. Thus, it comes to no surprise that fans got frustrated when Nina Dobrev's character, Elena Gilbert, died.
Reports, at the time, claimed that it was really the decision of Nina Dobrev to leave "The Vampire Diaries" after she broke up with Ian Somerhalder. Nina Dobrev was reportedly angry at her ex-boyfriend after he tied the knot with Nikki Reed.
Hence, to avoid awkwardness on the set, Nina Dobrev decided to distance herself from her former loverboy and leave the show. Fortunately, it appears that fans will be seeing Nina Dobrev on TV once again as she is said to be absorbed in "The Originals."
