Adele apparently has a knack for getting people married. She has facilitated at least two engagements in half a month’s time.
In Feb. 29, the Grammy winner bullied a couple into getting engaged in Belfast, Belgium. On March 15 in London, Adele again acknowledged a couple who were just recently engaged, writes Vanity Fair.
Back in Belfast, it was a tradition for women to propose to men during the leap year. There was one couple where the guy has yet to decide whether to say yes to his girlfriend’s proposal. Adele found out about it and forced the man to agree, funnily threatening that she would put his face on her next album cover if he rejects.
Adele was in her hometown of London on Tuesday to do her first concert as part of a six-night residency. While she was singing “Make You Feel My Love,” she suddenly stopped and pointed to two people in the audience, per another Vanity Fair report.
“Did you just get engaged?!” she asked the fans.
The couple nodded to confirm. Adele proceeded to request their presence onstage.
Adele shared that she noticed some commotion in the crowd while she was performing and told the audience that she initially thought that there was a fight. She continued that she saw a lot of camera phone lights and arms going up. She finally saw “sweet kissing,” which confirmed that she was right about her hunch.
The couple moved up the stage. The woman was shy and covered her face from the audience. Adele tried to make her feel more comfortable by saying that she gets stage fright as well.
“Get over it,” the singer quipped. Adele then gave the newly engaged couple a huge hug. She asked the man, Johnny, whether he proposed at the show. When he confirmed, Adele thanked him for doing it at her show. Adele asked to have a close-up shot of the couple on the stadium screen. She continued to ask the lovers a few more questions about their relationship. They apparently have been together for 12 and a half years.
A video showed the entire incident, featuring how Adele must be very fond of proposals and weddings. More updates and details on the Grammy winner are expected soon.
