Proper guidance and tips are essential for staying fit and fine during pregnancy and for having a healthy child.
During the launch of a fitness program for pregnant women, "The Pregnancy Project," in New York City last week, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, American model Turlington Burns and celebrity trainer Tracey Anderson joined hands to provide some tips to help expecting moms during and after pregnancy, Opposing Views reported.
"It's very important to move when you're pregnant. Well, if you're sick you have to lie in bed - I did!" Opposing Views quoted Paltrow, mother of two children, 8-year-old Apple and 6-year-old Moses. "But as long as you're okay to get up and at least walk and really try to keep blood circulating."
Regaining the pre-pregnancy body is another challenge faced by most of the women shortly after giving birth. To help new moms to relieve from their stress about losing their baby weight, Burns, mother 9-year-old Grace and 6-year-old Finn.
"You know, give yourself a break. Nobody knows what it's going to feel like as a mom until it happens," Burns said. "I don't think there should be that kind of pressure. I think we should forgive ourselves. It's important to feel rested and to get back to yourself internally before you care about what you look like externally.
"But I think eventually, there's no reason why you shouldn't have the life you had before kids in terms of physical activity. It's empowering to feel good and to feel like, 'Yeah, I brought you into the world and I still look good.'"
Anderson talked about the importance of breastfeeding and its role in shedding the baby weight easily.
"The body will naturally pull back a lot from breastfeeding. But then, once your doctor releases you to work out, then you can use all those joints that have been relaxed to move around."
Anderson gained national attention for regaining her pre-pregnancy body, shortly after giving birth to her second child Penelope.
"But make sure that they do not start to work out before the doctor says its okay, even if they feel like it,"
Apart from baby Penelope, the fitness guru has a 13-year-old son from her marriage with Eric Anderson, a former NBA player.
