"Honey" singer Mariah Carey has an HIV-positive older sister, Alison Carey. Despite Mariah Carey having been able to recoup her fame and fortune in recent times, brother Morgan Carey reveals that the "Hero" singer refuses to help Alison Carey.
Express reports that Morgan Carey expressed how deeply affected he felt by Mariah Carey ignoring pleas for help on behalf of Alison Carey. At 54 years of age, Alison Carey is suffering from HIV infection and requires both brain and spine surgery.
Morgan Carey had not been in contact with Mariah Carey for two years but broke the silence for the sake of Alison Carey. While Morgan had been making the effort to reach Mariah Carey to seek help for Alison Carey's hospital care, Mariah Carey had been unreachable. Morgan Carey has yet to receive a response from Mariah Carey for his repeated pleas for help.
Interestingly, Mariah Carey is no stranger to helping the less fortunate. In fact, Mariah Carey is an active supporter of Make A Wish Foundation. The Fresh Air Fund, a charity for children, even named Camp Mariah as thanks to Mariah Carey for her generous support. Among other activities, Mariah Carey also dedicated the royalties from her songs such as "Hero" and One Sweet Day" to different charity organizations.
Hollywood Life reports that despite the estrangement between Mariah Carey and her siblings, Alison Carey is a staunch supporter of the star. "It has been incredible watching Mariah grow and blossom into a successful, independent woman with the world at her feet," Alison Carey stated.
Mariah Carey and Alison Carey have been estranged for five years now. Alison Carey and Mariah Carey had a falling out in 1994. Despite overtures by Alison Carey for a reconciliation, Mariah Carey had been unresponsive. Alison Carey reportedly did not push the issue because she wanted her reconciliation with Mariah Carey to clearly be about love.
Morgan Carey related that the HIV-positive Alison Carey is fighting to survive. Alison Carey has two children just like Mariah Carey.
