'Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders' Series Debut: What Is Spinoff About? Get To Know The Team!

"Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" is the newest spinoff to the popular crime drama series, "Criminal Minds." It premiered on CBS Wednesday, March 16 at 10:00 p.m. This time, the investigative team are sent in far-flung and hard-to-reach locations to profile and catch the criminal.

"Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" has been described as akin to an "Amazing Race" competition gone wrong to highlight its exciting pace, per Yahoo. The group is called the International Response Unit or IRU.

Get to know its members below:

Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise)

Garret is a veteran of the FBI and was developed as a character with the idea of honoring law enforcements, which had been the actor's suggestion. He and the producers didn't want another leader with a difficult life and past. Garret has a good marriage, great kids and can still effectively work as an agent helping Americans.

"You have a lot of people that have had long-term relationships, raised families, and are dealing with that at the same time that they have to get on an airplane and deal with pretty evil, bad guys," Sinise said, per CBS News.

Clara Seger (Alana De La Garza)

Seger is a cultural anthropologist who is fluent in many languages. There's a translator on the set that De La Garza works with. Her character was introduced in the premiere with a back story about losing her husband.

Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney)

Special agent Simmons grew up in the army and has a family he longs to see but work is keeping him very busy. The producers are not open to the idea of divorce just yet in this spinoff of "Criminal Minds."

Russ "Monty" Montgomery (Tyler James Williams)

The tech analyst is kind of a wonder kid who can do anything for the team. Williams told TV Guide that his character is essentially doing the job of three people. "He's someone who's incredibly bright, spends a lot of time in front of the computer, but at 22 may not be ready to tell people that their family members have died over and over and over again every week."

Mae Jarvis (Annie Funke)

The medical examiner is quite the spunky millennial who also goes who also goes on field missions with the IRU team.

"Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" will air every Wednesday nights on CBS.
