Specific Lighting Color Can Promote Sleep

Sleeping at night along with the course of nature is the best way for long, sound sleep. It's evident that turning off the lights at night before going to sleep can promote longer and undisturbed sleep but do you know that there are people who are uncomfortable in turning off the lights when they go to bed?

According to Light Foundation, there was a study saying that exposure to unnatural light cycles especially before bed can affect your health. They explained that there is a nerve from the eye that directly connects to the brain. When exposed to light, this stimulates the part of the brain that controls the body hormones which plays a role in making your body feel sleepy or feel awake.

In a recent study, some scientists and experts say that having the lights on before sleep are not totally bad depending on the light hue that you are using. There are certain light colors that are recommended during the day and during at night.

In a post from Science 2.0, an experiment concluded that "blue and white" hue lights affects sleep negatively while a "red" hue light is way better because it promotes sleep. Though in this experiment, they still proved that total darkness is the best for sleeping.

In relation to this study, Techcrunch has reported that the famous makers of lighting fixtures and bulbs, Phillips, have recently made a type of bulb where the light temperatures are adjustable. You can make it brighter or dimmer depending on your preference.

A specially designed light bulb has an option to change the light color from blue to red and vice versa. There is also a feature that will automatically change the light color gradually depending on the preferred setting.

This will be very beneficial for those people who are not comfortable with putting the light out totally at night when they go to bed. This is also recommended for parents with babies and young children. They can turn on the light to a dim red at night and have it set to change gradually to blue in the morning.
