Valve is now offering Custom Game Passes to the MOBA “Dota 2.” This is part of the company's efforts to support hardworking custom game designers.
While “Dota 2's” custom games have been here since the Reborn Update made its way last year, custom game creators and designers only received little to no compensation or share from the games they make, no matter how popular or phenomenal the games might become, reports Lazygamer. To address that, the good guys at Valve have decided to launch the Custom Games Pass.
“Introducing the Custom Game Pass, a new system for supporting and rewarding custom game developers who are committed to building vibrant and lasting communities around their games,” reads the blurb in the “Dota 2” blog.
The Custom Game Pass allows all players to have extra features for certain games like an extra stash or character slot, for a very reasonable price. The first Pass available is for “Roshpit Champions,” and can be purchased for a mere $1.
All Custom Game Pass purchases will last for 30 days, and will need to be renewed afterwards should the player want to keep enjoying its perks. At that price, however, it seems that renewing won't be a problem. Valve certainly knows how to let both the Custom Game creator and player to enjoy at the same time.
“Purchasing a pass directly supports the creators of the custom game as well as granting you extra features for that game,” the blog reads.
Keep note, however, that the Custom Games Pass is not required to play all of “Dota 2's” custom games. “All custom games will remain free to download and play,” Valve explains.
Should the Custom Game Pass fail to meet a person's expectations within 48 hours of purchases, Valve suggests going to the Steam Refunds page for more information. You can read the Custom Game Pass FAQs here.
