Oh no! Did Mariah Carey ditch her dying sister for her lavish $100 million Caribbean wedding? Well, latest reports claimed that the 45-year-old diva is refusing to pay for her dying sister Alison Carey's lifesaving brain and spinal surgeries because of her upcoming wedding on the exclusive island of Barbuda in June.
Mariah Carey and her Australian billionaire fiancé James Packer are reportedly tying the knot in June in the Caribbean island of Barbuda. TMZ has learned. While the couple only plans to invite 50 of their closest family and friends, they are reportedly spending $100 million on the wedding.
"Think private jets, performers, security, couture clothing and private chefs," a source told Life & Style (via Hollywood Life). "And the price of everything is even higher because they're making the wedding happen so soon."
A source also revealed that Mariah Carey's wedding will be star-studded as she plans to invite several A-list stars. While the date haven't been set yet, the couple plans to have it on Princess Diana Beach in Barbuda, which is the same location where Packer is building a resort with actor Robert DeNiro, another Hollywood Life report said.
In January, Mariah Carey and James Packer made headlines when they got engaged after dating for less than a year. According to HNGN, Packer proposed to Carey with a $7.5 million, 35-carat engagement ring.
The extravagant wedding, however, is also raising some eyebrows after it was reported that Mariah Carey has abandoned her dying 54-year-old sister Alison, who's battling HIV. And though the "Vision of Love" singer's 51-year-old brother Morgan is spiteful towards Mariah, Alison said that she's proud of her sister and only wanted what's best for her.
"It has been incredible watching Mariah grow and blossom into a successful, independent woman with the world at her feet," Alison told The Sun.
Alison, who hasn't talked to Mariah Carey in five years, also stressed that she's not trying to settle their issues so that Mariah will financially support her. In fact, she has reportedly reached out to Mariah several times but the singer has stood her ground.
"I don't want Mariah to think I only want her for her money, like everyone else does," Alison told Star in 2015. "I want her to love me again. I want her to be my sister again."
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey is not only busy in the preparations for her upcoming wedding. She is also set to star in the upcoming eight-part docu-series on E! titled, "Mariah's World," E! News revealed.
