WATCH: Russian Subway Commuters do 30 Squats Instead of Paying 90 Cents to Ride Subway

If you happen to be in Russia with no money and no way to get around, there's no need to stress. All you need to do is perform 30 squats for the ticketing machine and you're good to go.

Just ahead of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, the Moscow metro has set up a special vending machine that offers travelers one free ticket in exchange for performing 30 squats. Instead of paying the regular subway fee, which is around 90 cents, subway riders can step up towards a subway ticket issuing machine and perform the squats. The only catch is they need to be done under two minutes.

The program is designed to encourage physical fitness and also ramp up excitement for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi.

"We wanted to show that the Olympic Games is not just an international competition that people watch on TV, but that it is also about getting everyone involved in a sporting lifestyle," Alexander Zhukov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee, told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

The machine will remain at the Vystavochaya station in the west of the Russian capital until Dec. 3.

"It was hard at first, but I managed it," a commuter named Lyudmila told AFP. "Two minutes is enough time."

The Winter Olympic Games run from February 7-23, 2014.
