4 Useful Tips In Maintaining Your Baby's Healthy Skin

Parents would always make an effort in giving only the best to their child. Having a newborn child requires extra tender loving care in taking care of their every need especially their sensitive skin.

To make sure that you maintain that silky soft healthy skin of your baby, we have listed down four tips to help you in taking care of your baby's skin:

Tip #1: Baby Skin Is Super Sensitive
Refrain from using adult formulated lotions or creams for your baby's first month. This may cause irritation and are too harsh for your baby's skin. Be sure to use only hypo-allergenic baby products as your baby grows older. Avoid using talc and baby powders as it may aggravate yeast diaper rash, and may even cause lung problems.

Tip #2: Bath Time Remedy
When your baby is ready for a full bath, a basin with 3-4 inches of warm water would suffice to keep them clean. Be sure to do this for only three to five minutes to avoid dry skin. If your baby is over a month old and you want to put in lotion, apply lotion on their wet skin by gentle patting it, instead of rubbing it in their skin.

Tip #3: Bath Time May Not Be Every Day
No full baths are needed until your baby turns a month old. Too much bathing can cause dry skin amongst babies. Diaper changes and sponge baths would suffice in keeping your baby clean. They can be bathed just every 2-3 days if they are under one year old.

Tip #4: Take Care of Your Laundry
To avoid skin irritation and developing unwanted allergies, use a gentle detergent to wash your baby's beddings, blankets, towels and onesies. This should also apply to your own clothes as you are in close contact with your baby every day.
