Tips To Lure Adolescents to Spend Time With Family

Teenagers tend to cut off from the family. And for parents it is difficult to see children not spending quality time with you but being busy with friends or finding solace in video games. Here are some tips to get your teenager to spend some time with the family.

1. Invite your children for outdoor games, some quick snack or to watch a favorite family show. They might avoid, but be keep inviting them. This will make them feel they are welcome any time.

2. Explain to your children the importance of being a role model to their younger siblings. Tell them how their younger brothers or sisters look up to them. Ask your older teens to help their younger ones with their homework, go for a walk together or prepare an evening meal.

3. Be firm. This might be a bit tricky, but set time limits to be on the computer or video games. Do not be harsh on them. Teenage is a sensitive phase of life. You can set the time limits for social entertainment. If computer is important for your children's studies, make it an open room where you can easily keep an eye on their activities. According to a research, boys do not have some of the basic social skills just because they spend too much time on the computer. This limits their social interaction.

4. Tell your teens to help you with the daily chores in the house. You can suggest that they would be allowed to play video games after doing a particular task. Also, let them decide what job in the house they want to do. This will impart a sense of responsibility and ownership of home.
