All those who marked their calendars for August next year for the movie adaptation of the erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey' will have to make some changes. The movie is reportedly slated to release on Valentine's Day, 2015.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Universal Pictures delayed the production of the movie just to let lead actor Jamie Dornan, who will donning the role of hunk Christian Grey, to prepare for the part.
The much-awaited movie has already faced casting problems. Earlier, the author of the erotic novel revealed that British actor Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would be the lead actors playing the roles of sexy Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. This created massive disappointment among the fans. Some angry fans demanded a recast saying that Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel were perfect for the lead roles. Amid this, Charlie decided to quit 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and paved the way for Irish actor Dornan.
But, the production house says that the recast is not the main reason to push the start of the movie and release date. "We see this movie as a global event. The strength of this book is really worldwide, so we want to be able to take advantage of women who are invariably on vacation with their families during the month of August in Europe," Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley told Entertainment Weekly.
She further explained, "Together with the international marketing and distribution team, we've been looking really closely at the August date and becoming more and more convinced that the right thing to do for the movie was to push it. "So even if Charlie had stayed, we still would have been making the date change."
The role of Anastasia's mother will played by Jennifer Ehle, who was seen in the 1990s BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
