'Battleborn' Release Date, News & Update: Post-Launch Content, Dev Details Revealed!

Gearbox Software’s and 2K’s “Battleborn” is coming, and this should be good news for all fans of the shooter and MOBA genres -- Simply because it is a shooter that has MOBA elements in it.

“Battleborn” is a PvE shooter that can be played solo or cooperatively online or splitscreen with a friend, reports Engadget. It features 25 characters at launch, all of them unique, with different weapons, abilities and personalities. “Battleborn” staff promise that the game has great replayability, encouraging players to play again and again to get different loot every time.

Although the game is already finished and complete, with all the base game modes and characters in place, Lazygamer reports that it will be good to know that the “Battleborn” devs have already lined up various free and paid post-launch content that will surely excite players.

Here’s what the “Battleborn” staff outlined in a blog post:

Free Content

Players can expect five additional heroes after launch, giving the game a total of 30 once they’re all in.
The first post-launch hero to be added is Alani, “a member of the Eldrid faction who was raised as a healer, but forced to be a warrior, and is all that remains of her order after Rendain’s Jennerit Imperium stole the oceans from her world.”

“As a warrior from a planet with vast seas, Alani’s attacks and abilities revolve around her power to control water to dish out pain, or heal her fellow Battleborn,” the blurb continued.

Devs also promise that the game will feature free competitive multiplayer modes, maps, balance updates and community features.

Paid Content

“Battleborn” will also have five add-on packs, all of which contain one new Story Operation, as well as new hero skins and taunts that players can use to customize their characters. The Story Operations are highly replayable, and will let players enjoy new side-stories.

Excited? Stay tuned for more updates. “Battleborn” ships on May 3.
