'StarCraft II' News & Update: Expansion Pack 'Nova Covert Ops' Coming This Month

For those who were hoping to have more of “StarCraft II,” good news comes as the game’s first mission pack, “Nova Covert Ops,” comes this month.

“Nova Covert Ops” is a single player campaign DLC for “StarCraft II” that will let players play as November “Nova” Terra, a Dominion Ghost, which is the game’s version of a human spy. Nova will take on various assignments considered to be “vital to the survival of the Dominion,” reports IGN. She will be infiltrating enemy bases, intercepting invasions, and leveraging experimental technology in the game.

Players of “StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty” will remember her either as a playable friendly character or a non-playable foe, depending on the decisions made in-game.

“Nova Covert Ops” will feature three mission packs, and this is the first of the three, reports GameSpot. Game developer Blizzard said that this first pack will introduce new game mechanics in addition to the classic “StarCraft II” gameplay that fans of the RTS genre have loved.

The first mission pack contains three missions. The second and third packs that will be released later this year also contain three missions each, making for a total of nine missions altogether. Fans who finished the main game will be thrilled to have this addition to the “StarCraft” lore.

“Nova Covert Ops” will be released March 29. Those who order the “Nova Covert Ops: Mission Bundle” will pay $15 for the three separate packs. Those who pre-order before the launch will also receive a “Covert Ops” skin for all in-game Ghost units in “StarCraft II.”

Those who don’t have “StarCraft II” will still be able to play the mission pack. However, the free Starter Edition is still needed to play the game.
