A woman who has undergone tummy tuck operation claims that the procedure made her look like a man, according to the Daily Mail.
Helena Barrett, 38, lost 126 pounds after undergoing weight loss surgery. However, the procedure left her with saggy skin and a 'penis'. As it turns out, the unexpected bulge dangling between her legs could be seen through her trousers and her friends, who were equally shocked, asked her if she also underwent sex change. "I was mortified. There was a thick pouch of skin that sagged from the center of my stomach over my pubic bone so, to put it delicately, I looked like a man. When I went out you could see the bulge through my clothes and people would ask if I'd had a sex change. It was very embarrassing," Barrett said.
After undergoing a reconstructive surgery by surgeon, Mario Russo, also known as Dr. Boob, Mrs. Barrett now claims that she has her life back. She has also found love and has given birth to a baby girl. "When the bandages were removed and I saw the skin hanging between my legs it immediately made me feel like a boy," she said.
"It was protruding out and looked awful. The doctor assured me that this was normal, but I was just devastated. I thought my life was ruined. I can't quite believe that I'm married and a mom to a baby girl. I never thought that would happen." Barrett first underwent surgery in 2006 when she had a gastric bypass. A year later, she was 126 pounds less but did not feel confident due to her sagging skin. In 2009, she was referred to the Royal Free Hospital for an apronectomy or a mini tummy tuck.
