Sometimes you feel very uncomfortable because you feel bloated and you suffer abdominal pain. The only time you will feel a big relief from this is when you belch but it can be embarrassing sometimes especially if you can't delay or control it.
It is naturally part of our system to let out those gas inside our body but how often or frequent should we belch in a day? According to Everyday Health, a gastroenterologist at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., Svetang Desai, MD, said that we could be letting out gas approximately 14 times a day and a person in average lets out 500 - 1,500 of gas per day.
If you find yourself farting too much then there is something causing. Here are some reasons why we fart a lot and what it means to our health.
1. Bacterial overgrowth from the colon
As posted by Women's Health, a gastroenterologist at the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women's Health at NYU Langone Medical Center, Rebekah Gross, M.D, said that the colon bacteria is responsible for fermenting the digested food coming from the small intestines but because of the bacterial overgrowth, some reach the small intestines. What happens is that the food in the small intestine encounters the bacteria even before it is completely digested. The food fermented in the small intestines produces some gas which is causing an excessive farting.
2. You have underlying health condition (other causes of too much farting)
-You are constipated. The poop that is staying for a while is continuing to ferment producing gas making you fart once in a while.
-You are lactose intolerant. Your body is unable to absorb lactose.
-You have celiac disease. You are intolerant of gluten found in wheat products.
-You have gastroenteritis. Experiencing bowel infection.
- You have malabsorption. A condition where your small intestines are unable to absorb nutrients from food properly.
-Irritable bowel syndrome. A digestive disease the causes bloating and diarrhea making you fart frequently.
