After it was unveiled more than nine months ago, Asus has finally launched their new laptop E403SA VivoBook portable system.
Nine months ago, Asus unveiled a 3.3 pound, 14-inch budget laptop called the EeeBook E403SA. According to Liliputing, the company promised that the 14-inch EeeBook will be available in the United States in the second half of 2015. The announced price for the portable system was just $299.
Unfortunately, Asus' initial plan did not come into fruition. The bad news is that the starting price for Asus' new U.S. portable system went up by $100. However, the new laptop comes with better specs.
On the Asus Store website the new portable system is branded as the VivoBook E403SA-US21 and is priced at $399. The laptop is also available for purchase from B&H.
According to Geeky Gadgets, Asus E403SA VivoBook is powered by a quad-core Intel Pentium N3700 processor and features 4 GB of RAM. The portable system is equipped with a 14 inch FHD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The new Asus E403SA VivoBook laptop comes with 128 GB of eMMC storage, Bluetooth 4.0, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. It comes equipped with a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port, a USB Type-C port, as well as headset, HDMI and SD card ports.
Among other features of the E403SA VivoBook are included a VGA webcam, a microphone, stereo speakers and a 57Wh battery. VivoBook's case measures 13.4" x 9.3" x 0.7".
Asus did not revealed more details about the upgrade options or other systems in the range. Tech experts believe that the company will make available in the future a cheaper version of the E403SA VivoBook with 32 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM. A product page also suggests that besides less storage and memory, there may be also other variations with slower processors and lower-resolution displays.
