American Kennel Club and She Knows listed the following smallest dog breeds that would surely make you happy:

1. Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkshire terrier has a maximum size of 7 pounds (3.2 kg) up to 15 pounds (6.8 kg). Its nickname is Yorkie and it is developed during the 19th century in Yorkshire, England. Yorkie is small yet it is active, fond of attention, curious and overprotective.

2. Poodle

Poodle is classed in various sizes namely the standard, miniature, medium and toy. According to American Kennel, the standard size of the poodle is about 38 cm (18 in) and the toy which is the smallest poodle is about fewer than 25 cm (10 in). The poodle is tiny yet it ranks as the second dog breed that is highly intelligent.

3. Shih Tzu

This cute dog breed only weighs about 10 to 12 pounds. They are also smart dogs just like the poodle. They are also lovable in appearance with long silky hair.

4. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

It is a small spaniel with a height for about 12 to 13 inches and weighs about 13 to 18 (5.9 to 8.2 kg). This dog is very friendly and affectionate with children and other animals.

5. Bichon Frise

The super fluffy Bichon Frise has a height of 23 to 28 cm (9 to 11 in). It is purely white and one of the cutest dog breeds in the world. It is not only cute but also cheerful and merry.

6. Pomeranian

Pomeranian dog is also called Pom Pom. It is a small dog that weighs 1.9 to 3.5 kg (4.2 to 7.7 lb.) and has a height of 5 to 11 in (13 to 28 cm). It is playful, friendly and lively but aggressive to other pups.

7. Maltese

Maltese is also classed as the toy dog. It weighs about 2 to 8 lb. and has a height of 8 to 10 inches. It is lovely and purely white just like Bichon Frise. Maltese is extremely playful and loving. It is bred to be a companion dog.
