Toddler Suffers Third-Degree Burns After Own Mother Puts Her Inside Oven

A mother has been placed behind bars after she placed her 2-year-old daughter inside the oven. The child reportedly suffered second and third-degree burns because of the incident.

Glen Rose Reporter said that 35-year-old Tasha Shontell Hatcher was taken into police custody on Thursday last week after she admitted that she roasted her own daughter inside their oven. The authorities revealed in their reports that Hatcher sought assistance from their neighbor on how to treat the injuries of her child.

The mother has already been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury. The bond was set at $300,000.

According to Fox 4, the young girl has been taken to Parkland Hospital where she is receiving treatment. Family members claim that she had second and third-degree burns. Reports say that she was sedated but noted that her condition is already stable.

It was also stated that relatives did not expect Hatcher to do such thing to her daughter. They claimed that the mother is "attentive and loving" to her child.

A neighbor of the Hatcher claimed that he would usually see the mother and daughter enjoying each other's company. "They always seemed playful together," said Arturo Villa.

However, he claimed it was different on Thursday. Villa said that as he was mowing his lawn, he heard loud music from inside the home and that she was doing a lot of signs and gestures. "It was unusual," he added.

A Child Protective Services spokesperson told Fox 4 that they have taken into their custody the young girl. Her relatives were barred from having any contact with the kid during the course of the investigation.

Glen Rose Reporter said Hatcher had a history of drug abuse in the past years. Her 7-year-old son was also removed from her custody because of her involvement in drugs.
