This spring season could be a bad spring allergy season, according to experts. People who have allergies must prepare to prevent any condition that may lead to the serious health problem.

"With the crazy up and down weather, some parts of the country could see worse allergy-provoking conditions," Dr. Jordan Josephson, a sinus specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City said. "This is likely to be pollen super burst this season, so sufferers should get ready."

WebMD reports that two out of ten Americans have allergies. People who are allergic have immune systems that react to particles such as animal dander, mold, weeds, dust and pollen among others. There are also people who allergies on milk and peanuts.

The symptoms of allergy include wheezing, itchy eyes and skin, rash, nasal congestion and sneezing. Its treatment involves medications such as antihistamines, steroid nasal sprays, nasal allergy sprays, mast cell inhibitors, allergy eye drops and allergy shots among others.

"Allergies left untreated can cause sinus swelling leading to chronic sinusitis. Allergies can also affect your digestive tract," said Dr. Josephson. "Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can be a direct response to the allergic response. So allergies can seriously affect your quality of life. Just ask any allergy or sinus sufferer."

Everyday Health states the suggestions of Dr.Josephson on how to control the allergy symptoms. These include staying indoors from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- this time when pollens are visible. He also recommends using the air conditioner that cleans and dries the air. Keep door and window closed. To humidify the air around you must use an air purifier.

If you went outdoors, you have to change clothes and wash them right away. It is also advisable to take a shower to eradicate the pollen from your hair and skin. He also suggested moistening your sinus every day to remove the pollen and take antihistamines.
