“Battleborn” is coming real soon. But if you've got doubts as to what kind of game it is, read on.
“Battleborn” is the result of 2K and Gearbox working on putting together the fast-paced and explosive gaming experience of first-person shooters and the increasingly famous and competitive MOBA gameplay, reports PC Authority. In short, “Battlefield” meets “League of Legends,” in a very cute and “Borderland-ish” kind of way.
“Battleborn” pits players in a competitive experience, although the game is first and foremost a hero-based shooter (with 25 heroes to choose from once the game is released) with a narrative campaign.
“The premise of the game – that the destruction of the galaxy has caused heroes from dozens of planets to fight a desperate last stand together – allows for a wide range of heroes, or battleborn, to choose from,” says PC Authority. “They break down into your classic damage-dealer, healer, tank, and support roles, but there’s a lot of scope for customising each character for the way you want to play.”
As expected of modern FPS games, the gameplay is definitely fast. Decisions have to made quickly, especially in choosing a skill or talent to acquire or enhance once the player levels up, or else players will get themselves blasted to smithereens. However, the game itself is bright and colorful, with a bit of “Borderlands” visible in the background.
Just like MOBAs such as “LOL” or “DOTA,” “Battleborn” puts all players in a single arena with one main goal: destroy the enemy's main base. And while heroes have mobs helping them in the fight, the enemy camp also spawns its mobs to fight back. Random enemies in the game map are also found, and can be fought for certain bonuses.
Players who've long been waiting for an FPS-meets-MOBA game, “Battleborn” is definitely something to watch out for. The main game's already completed, but 2K and Gearbox promises that they will release more post-launch content that will add to the experience and make it better.
“Battleborn” releases for all major platforms on May 3.
