The beloved Furby toy is taking on a different form as Furby Boom as an adaption to today's digital age. Furby BOOM is an app that comes complete with a companion app that allows kids to feed, bathe, and care for their electronic robot pets with their iPhones and iPads.
The Furby Boom has multiple personalities, bold new patterns and even syncs up to an app where it hatches digital Furby Furblings.
According to Hasbro, the Furby Boom can learn phrases like, "Totes cray-cray" and "awesomesauce."
Toymaker Hasbro has revived Furby twice - once in 2005 and again in 2012. But the new 2013 Furby BOOM comes complete with a digital makeover.
"Various screens in the app let you tend to [the Furby's] needs, with minigames like a shower or a toilet allowing you to relieve your Furby in each of the stats (yup, it poops!)," a review in PCMag.com reads. "If this seems familiar, the Tamagochi virtual pet had similar needs. You'll point your smart device toward the Furby to spray it with water or let it sit on a virtual toilet."
"It's still a Furby, so it will bore you or keep you entertained in the same manner as previous Furbys," PCMag.com said in the review. "New interactive elements make the Furby more needy."
The Furby toy first debuted in 1998 and sold more than 40 million units sold over the first three years of original production, according to Newsmax.
