"Girl Meets World" recently concluded Season 2 in the finale episode entitled, "Girl Meets Legacy." IBT reports that many fans were expecting for a conclusion on the longstanding love triangle between Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas (Peyton Mayer).
While the love triangle was the finale episode's focus on "GMW" Season 2, the publication notes that the show's love triangle is merely used as a means to cover bigger and broader subjects. The show's writers also hinted that Season 2 was a "season of growth" while Season 3 is "a season of feelings."
"Girl Meets World" writers also tweeted that there will never be an ending to the triangle because there was never one in the first place.
In a recent interview with Michael Jacobs, the series creator told The Wrap that "Girl Meets World" Season 3 will be tackling heavier and more mature subjects such as sex and underage drinking while taking into consideration the show's viewers. Jacobs said that Disney has been very good to them and they would still honor their younger and older demographic of the audience.
"We will tackle heavier subjects, and we will explore them, but we will also honor the fact that out demographic starts at 6 years old," Jacobs said.
Jacobs added that if Lucas finally chooses between Riley and Maya in "Girl Meets World" Season 3, what happens next in their relationship may also be tackled in such a way that makes it realistic for the older audience yet toned down for the younger ones.
"Girl Meets World" Season 3 is expected to premiere this spring 2016 on Disney Channel.
