How To Get A Slim Body After Giving Birth?

It is the ultimate goal for mothers to lose weight after giving birth. Some stick to low-carb diets while others make exercise and working out their best friends.

Fit mom Stephanie Bruce, as per Stuff, managed to do a half marathon five months after she gave birth to her second child. The 32-year-old turned to sports as her way to losing the extra pounds she gained when she was still pregnant

"I can stick 3 fingers in my belly in the space between the left and right sides of my abdominal muscles. It's the most unnatural natural part of pregnancy and the postpartum side effects," Bruce explained. "They call this diastasis recti and it is the bane of my existence. The latin word 'diastasis' means separation."

She noted that this case usually happens when the connective tissue in the stomach stretches. Bruce advised moms with this condition to maintain an active lifestyle and always exercise.

On the other hand, American Dietetic Association spokesperson Melinda Johnson told WebMD that strict diets and intense exercises could also prove bad for the body if it is done when a person is not yet prepared for this. "They do this with very, very strict diets, and a lot of them do it by getting back into activity before their body is really ready for it," she added.

The certified dietitian noted that mothers can always try a "more gradual approach" to their weight loss goal. She claimed that they should be patient with their body and try not to rush its capabilities. "It took nine months to get there. It should take at least that long to get back to their fighting weight," Johnson said.

BabyCentre said a mother's body still needs to recover from giving birth before it can be subjected to the pressures and sacrifices of losing weight. The same report said a period of six to eight weeks should be observed before moms start working to achieve fit bodies.

Mothers are also advised to eat healthy foods like vegetables and fruits. BabyCentre said drinking plenty of water in a day will also aid in one's weight loss.
