'Overwatch' Release Date, News & Update: Blizzard Shows Short Video About Upcoming Game[Watch]

Blizzard has released a new short video for its upcoming game, “Overwatch.”

This is Blizzard’s newest property in a long time, reports The Verge. In preparation for the game’s launch this May, Blizzard has decided to focus in making short video introductions for it, and the first one is something that will make you stop what you’re doing to watch it.

Here’s the short video.

Neat, right?

The animated short, titled “Recall” is the first of three animated shorts that Blizzard will be releasing before the game’s release. It features one of the game’s characters, Winston, who is obviously a cybernetic gorilla who’s also a scientist, fighter and an avid “Hearthstone” player as well. Intriguing indeed.

If you watched that video closely and kept your eyes peeled for details, you would have noticed about 15 characters, notes Polygon. All details, specifically their names and ages, were blurred so that they will remain mysterious until the game releases. Photos also flew so fast that it would take multiple replays for viewers to see each character’s art.

What was shown, though, is only part of the 21 expected characters to be available at time of release. Polygon adds that some of the characters shown on the video might not actually appear as playable characters in the game.

“Overwatch” is a mutilplayer first-person shooter where two teams of six players face off against each other, most probably like Gearbox’s “Battleborn.” The game is set in a future version of Earth, and just like other multiplayer games, features a large cast of characters that include that ghost-like mercenary and, of course, a genius Hearthstone-playing smart gorilla.

Blizzard is still preparing two more animated shorts, and a comic book titled “Overwatch: First Strike.”

“Overwatch” releases for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 24, 2016.
