4 Misleading Principles That Should Be Corrected

Children and teenagers lived with many convincing views and principles in life. Parents tell their children many persuasive things or directives as a guide to live their life with content and happiness.

It is true that children can't just ignore these things but being a responsible individual, you don't really need to follow all those directives and lock your mind on those convincing views in life. You yourself will make you who you are according to what you are good at to live a life with contentment.

Here are some directives and principles that may somehow mislead you.

1. Making you believe that you can be whatever you want to be.

In reality, this can't be applied to all people. What if you want to be a computer genius but you are not really good in computer programming or algorithms because it's not your talent or potential. This may sound discouraging but be guided with what's real about you.

You can be a successful person by using your best talents. As posted by Huff Post, Michael Peggs, the founder and CEO of Marccx Media, a digital marketing agency specializing in SEO and content marketing said, "Most of us misplace our talent, trading it in for a trap. Thinking we can do it all, instead of doing one thing and doing it well."

2. Opportunities will come and just be patient.

One of the biggest misleading principles. Many successful people believe that you need to be very aggressive in creating your own opportunities in life. If you wait for the opportunity to knock on your door, you are just wasting gold which is "time." You should get ahead to achieve many things in life.

3. Getting a college degree is absolutely necessary.

A college degree is important but not essential in life. It doesn't mean if you don' have a college degree, you get to live a life full of problems and misery.

Getting a college degree is important because it will help you improve life and get better opportunities but this still depends on the person who has it. There are a lot of opportunities in life if you just dedicate yourself in finding it.

There are people with no college degrees who make good money. Being an effective plumber, salesperson, or even small scale business owner can earn good money which is they are good at.

4. Money is one of the things that can make you contented and happy.

To be direct, it's not money that makes you happy but the "security" in brings when you have a lot of money. You can be happy with just a small earning if you are provided to have your own home, a loving family, children, and friends, good food, health insurances, educational plans, and other security plans in life.

The more appropriate thing to say is "secure all the important things in life to be happy." According to Simply Psychology page, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs include "Safety" and below this category is security in life.
