'Homeland' Season 6 Spoilers, News & Update: New Season To Feature Carrie Mathison's Story; Will The Show Survive Without Her?

There is no doubt that Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is among the most important character in the "Homeland" series. For fans who want to learn more about Carrie, according to reports, "Homeland" season 6 will feature her backstory.

According to Ecumenical News, when "Homeland" features Peter Quinn's (Rupert Friend) backstory in the season 5 finale, it received positive reviews from the "Homeland" fans. It was a breath of fresh air to see the agent as a young man before his recruitment. It was a new side of the character that had been always subjected to stressful scenes.

"Homeland" season 6 will give their fans the same feeling, but this time with a sneak peek of Carrie's personal life. Per Los Angeles Times, the season kicks off with Carrie living her normal life. This will be a huge change of environment for the character.

"We did really pick her up this season in a completely different emotional and professional place," "Homeland" co-creator Alex Gansa disclosed.

In the next episodes of "Homeland" season 6, viewers will see Carrie in a stable relationship, leading a normal life. She works at a foundation, doing exactly opposite of what she's doing as an intelligence officer.

Gansa teases that in "Homeland" season 6, Carrie will be tested on how much of herself could she share with a normal person? One of the questions that need to be answered is will a human rights lawyer like Jonas Hollander still accepts her wholly after she did some extraordinary and questionable things in the past. There is no doubt that Carrie would also struggle to open up herself to this man.

According to Gansa, Carrie's opening up will begin in "Homeland" season 6 episode 3 and it didn't go so well.

Meanwhile, The Siver Times suggested that "Homeland" no longer needs Carrie to continue following, David Nevin's statement, "the franchise is so strong and specific as can be imagined survive any character."

Per the report, Carrie is the heart of the "Homeland" season that centered on Berlin, but Danes failed terribly in the series. If the character will be removed, will "Homeland" survive without her? Share your thoughts below.
